Rabat — The View Hotel in Morocco’s capital will host the Future Leaders Challenge Morocco 2026 on March 30–31, bringing together academic institutions, hospitality industry leaders and government officials in a bid to reshape how the country develops its tourism workforce.
The two-day event, organized by Hubert Ummels, founder of the Future Leaders Platform, is designed to bridge the gap between academic training and the real demands of the hospitality and tourism sector. It pursues three stated objectives: aligning university curricula with industry needs, making tourism and hospitality careers more attractive to young Moroccans, and building a sustainable ecosystem rooted in the principle of “Community over Competition.”
Tourism and Hospitality as Economic Drivers
The initiative operates on the premise that hospitality and tourism are not ordinary industries — they are engines of economic growth, social inclusion and shared prosperity. By forging strategic links between universities, the private sector and public authorities, the Future Leaders Challenge positions itself as a platform that addresses workforce development at a structural level.
A High-Profile Strategic Board
Guiding the initiative is the Strategic Board of Morocco, tasked with attracting and mentoring the next generation of talent across the Middle East and Africa region. The board brings together prominent figures from across the sector:
Hubert Ummels, founder of GameChangers and the Future Leaders Platform; Raouf Ben Chedli, Area General Manager for Hilton Morocco & Tunisia; Jaafar Mrhardy, TMSA Board Member; Laila Bensouda, General Manager of Madaëf Sports & Events; Souleymane Khol, Vice President of Operations for Premium, Midscale & Economy at Accor Morocco; Karim Sentici, Managing Director of SHB; Hamid Bentahar, President of the National Tourism Confederation; Abbas Azzouzi, CEO of Experienciah Morocco; Hamid Sidine, Managing Director of Radisson Hotel Group Morocco; and Imad Barrakad, Chairman and CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Tourism Development (SMIT).
A 12-Week Strategic Challenge for Students
At the heart of the event lies a hands-on challenge built on the “Community over Competition” philosophy — a model that encourages constructive rivalry in service of collective progress rather than individual gain.
Over 12 weeks, student teams work on a real-world industry problem defined by the Strategic Board. They then present their recommendations at the Rabat event before senior executives, investors and decision-makers. The format serves a dual purpose: it gives industry leaders direct access to fresh perspectives from the next generation, while exposing students to the operational and strategic realities of the market.
More Than 12 Moroccan Institutions on Board
The Morocco 2026 edition brings together over twelve academic institutions from across the country, including the School of Hospitality Business and Management, Université Internationale de Casablanca – VATEL, Mohammed V University Rabat, Université Privée de Marrakech, École Hôtelière de Casablanca, EIGHT Hospitality Business School, ESLSCA Business School Rabat, Cadi Ayyad University, École Supérieure de Technologie Essaouira, École Supérieure d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme Universiapolis, International Institute of Tourism of Tangier, and the Faculty of Science and Technology at Cadi Ayyad University.
This academic mobilization falls under the broader School Directors Alliance, launched in 2023 and now spanning more than 170 institutions worldwide. The alliance seeks to harmonize academic standards, boost graduate employability and give educational institutions a unified voice — reinforcing Morocco’s position as a key player in structuring the sector’s human capital.
Platform Reach and Free Access for Schools
The numbers behind the Future Leaders Challenge reflect its growing footprint. The platform has reached over 80,000 stakeholders to date, while press relations value has exceeded $400,000. Digital engagement and impressions continue to rise, underscoring the model’s ability to rally academic, industry and institutional actors around workforce development.
In a commitment to inclusivity, the initiative covers accommodation, meals and full conference access for participating schools at no cost — a clear investment in emerging talent.
March 30–31, The View Hotel, Rabat
On March 30 and 31, 2026, The View Hotel Rabat becomes the national gathering point for hospitality and tourism human capital. The Future Leaders Challenge Morocco 2026 is not a conventional conference — it is a strategic initiative that brings generations together, with the ambition of creating lasting impact across Morocco’s tourism ecosystem.
